Below is a clip of Aliana playing at her first piano recital; she just began learning to read notes 3 weeks prior to the event. And what would a recital be without her ruby red slippers? I hope you enjoy this as much as I do.

It's been a year and a half since I started working from home full-time, and I have enjoyed the process. However, due in part to recent family events (i.e., my father-in-law's stroke in December and his recent diagnosis of Stage II Multiple Myeloma), it has become very clear the importance of stability in our family. Though I do not intend to close up shop with Axel Designs, I have begun searching for a full-time job. Things will not be easy, my work schedule will be similar to what it was in previous years, only this time I will be helping Dad in the evenings. I will also have specific and dedicated hours for working on Axel Designs - scheduling and prioritizing is key, not just for business but for life as well.
I don't have any regrets about this decision, and I'm grateful that I was able to dedicate 18 months to building a solid client base. In so many ways Axel Designs is in a more stable position than it has ever been. I've learned a ton about what to do and what not to do in business, however there is so much more to learn. It has also given me a perspective on business that I never had before, and I'm sure this will only make me a better employee. So, that's what's going on with me...
Now what would my post be without a little something from Aliana, so without further ado... Aliana practicing her piano lessons today.
Thanks or stopping by and I hope you come back again soon.

Hi everyone, life has been too hectic to keep up with posting, at least for now. But, I did have time to record some video of my little superstar. I hope you enjoy it. I do hope to find time to post her more often.

Well it's almost 4:00am and I've been working on a client's web site, fixing Vid's site and adding RSS Feeds to both this site and Vid's blog... all since putting Aliana to bed. Well, since Aliana actually fell asleep that is. I got her bathed and in bed by 9:30, but she didn't fall asleep until much, much later.
Now, I'm tired and I think I'll get some sleep now. Good night.

Hello everything, I just thought I'd post a quick and brief note just to let everyone know that I am still around. Life has kept me pretty busy recently; work from home continues... though my father-in-law's recent stroke has had some affect on things. There were about two weeks when I did not have time to work or bill for work done and I can feel it now. I was feeling tempted to apply for a part-time job, but I really am needed at home right now. I actually haven't been out of the house in over a month, except to take the garbage to the curb. My last real outing was to the hospital before dad's release, and that was so that Vid and I could go through training on how to move and care for him. I really think it's important that I get out soon, even if it's only for an hour. Well gotta go... it's 5:00am and I really should get some sleep now.

Recently I read a book called "Eat by Choice, Not by Habit - Practical Skills for Creating a Healthy Relationship with Your Body and Food" by Sylvia E. Haskvitz, M.A., R.D.; prior to reading it, I'd been talking to Vid about my dissatisfaction with my lack of progress in the area of fitness, and he thought that I might find this book helpful. I really didn't know what to expect, but I decided to read it with an open mind and a willingness to listen. I must admit, I loved this book. Before this book, the only other book on fitness and/or nutrition that I found of value to me was "Body-for-LIFE - 12 Weeks to Mental and Physical Strength" by Bill Phillips. I thought BFL was a great book for offering a guide on how to get physically fit, however EBC goes deeper then practice, it helps one address the reasons behind our relationships with food. Together I believe both books offer real long term value for me and I am eager to fuse the two into a practical way of life for me. Other books I've been reading these days are: "The Four Agreements" and "The Four Agreements - Companion Book" both by Don Miguel Ruiz, "Nonviolent Communication - A Language of Life" by Marshall B. Rosenberg, Ph.D. and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" by J.K. Rowling. I also plan to add "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle to my list of books I'd like to read soon.
My life has been extremely busy since I began working from home full time, and I have neglected a lot of things, not the least of which is sunlight. In in effort to add more balance to my life I want to add more time to read and play, I haven't quite figured it all out yet, but I am working on it.
I'll keep you all posted on how things develop, in work and in play. Thanks for stopping by.
